Design idea
We hope Nanshan Kindergarten in Lianping，as an important project with aid from Nanshan District government, locates at an important urban node of Lianping County. In the old town, the sophisticated-design 12-class kindergarten has realized multiple contributions, which was brought by a brand-new, highly innovative idea----Constructed Void: A Shield and Climate Buffer Zone between Old Town and the New Building.Firstly, we have created semi-outdoor space and gray space. In the unique environment of old town, the project has offered sufficient activity space for children. It becomes the ideal place for them to release energy and nature. The circular corridors are used as circular runways, where children could experience nature and the changes of four seasons.Secondly, the project has outstanding performance in shaping climate adaptability of the building. The outer corridors could prevent people from sun and rain. A composite facade and climate buffer zone are built to effectively reduce operating costs. The design demonstrates the concept of green, low-carbon, and environment friendly.Thirdly, through the scattered set-back platform layout, 12 teaching units are independently distributed on the platforms. It reduces the sense of scale of the building and makes the kindergarten to naturally integrate into the environment of the old town.Multiple-composite spaces are created in multiple layers of archways, forming a stone-arch park full of playfulness. When the night falls and the lights are on, it could become an art exhibition hall at the street corner, which would add a touch of brightness to the night-scene culture of the small town. In the short term, the project’s unique architectural appearance would become a new landmark in the old town area. In the long term, it will continue to provide high-quality spatial support for preschool education and effectively promote the vigorous development of urban cultural construction.
